Symantec – Error 1714. The older version of Symantic anti-virus cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group

July 10, 2007

Problem with anti-virus software. Just to give you an idea of the severity of this problem, we have not had virus protection at our NFP for at least a year. I am new, and trying to fix this.

I have an update for Symantic Anti-virus, it is version 8.0. I am trying to install it on my computer in order to use my computer as the anti-virus server.

When I try to install it, the Install Shield gives me the following message:

“The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”

It then tells me that I can enter a different path, etc. More importantly, when I hit cancel (which, in the end, is all I can do because I have exhausted all other options) I get this error message:

Error 1719 Symantec Antivirus

“Error 1714. The older version of Symantic anti-virus cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group”.

This doesn’t work ?

If this doesn’t work

Go to download this MSI Removal and remove the Current Symantec which you could locate in your system.

Voila.. more info… do drop me an email

Prime Minister Wedding Declaration Prime Minister Wedding Declaration

More news from the people here

And more from himself come

And from one of his minister
which he was cherished with a lovely poem:-

“I am happy to hear the news from Abdullah himself and wish him and his bride to be blessed with all happiness,” the MIC president said in a statement.

From this day forward
You shall not walk alone.
Her heart will be your shelter,
And her arms will be your home.
A mountain needs a valley to be complete;
the valley does not make
the mountain less, but more;
and the valley is more a valley because
it has a mountain towering over it

CISCO VPN – Stubborn Application Unable to Remove

June 5, 2007

I installed the (vpnclient-win-msi-4[1][1].6.04.0043-k9.exe) on my XP
pro SP2 today and all my problems started.

First off, I had SecureRemote which is another VPN installed at the
time. So when the install of the Cisco was almost done, I got a blue
screen and CRASH.

When restarted, it said there was some new hardware which had to do
with SecureRemote freaking out due to the new vpn, I uninstalled
SecureRemote and disabled its “hardware” and tried to reinstall the
Cisco client.

Now every time I try to install it says that “Another version of this
product is already installed …” So it says that it will be removed
and the PC has to be restarted. Well I hit okay and restart the PC. On
restart, the install comes up and gives me the same damned message.

There is no trace of Cisco in Add/Remove programs. I have followed the
manual uninstall and removed all the oemX.inf files and still get the
same problem.

Solution
Okay so in case anyone has this probelm I finally resolved it.

I basically went throught the registry (highlight My Computer first)
and did a search for the word Cisco and removed every instance of it I
could find. There was the InstallService which it would not let me
remove but everything else is gone.

Then I removed all the more recently created oemX.int and oem.pnf files
Also removed /windows/system32/drives/dne200.ddl
And /windows/system32/dne
I also removed anything it had put into
Startmenu/programs/Alluser/startup
Also removed the stuff in the temp folder

So the combonation of all that is what really got it done.

Now its installed and happy. I hope that helps some poor soul save the
day I just wasted some day
