To recover deleted items from the Deleted Items folder with Outlook

1. click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Exchange\Client\Options
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type DumpsterAlwaysOn, and then press ENTER.
5. Double-click DumpsterAlwaysOn.
6. Type 1 in the Value data area, click Decimal in the Base area, and then click OK.
7. Close Registry Editor.
8. Restart Outlook.

Open an Outlook client that has access to the mailbox that has deleted items.

1. Select the folder that has deleted items in it.
2. From the Tools menu, select Recover Deleted Items.
3. Select the items that you want to recover, and then click Recover Selected Items.

I have an update for Symantic Anti-virus, it is version 8.0. I am trying to install it on my computer in order to use my computer as the anti-virus server.

When I try to install it, the Install Shield gives me the following message:

“The feature that you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable”

It then tells me that I can enter a different path, etc. More importantly, when I hit cancel (which, in the end, is all I can do because I have exhausted all other options) I get this error message:

“Error 1714. The older version of Symantic anti-virus cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group”.

This doesn’t work ?

No worries, here you go. It works for me.

Solution
Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\CabinetState folder.

Go to: Edit>New>String Value.

Right-click the newly created key and rename it to “use search asst” without quotation marks. Click OK.

Double-click the new “use search asst” key and type “no” in the Value data field. Do not use quotation marks.

Close the registry editor.

This is a screenshot showing the subkey named “use search asst” and its value of “no”.

This would be how it looks like.

Restart the computer and see if the Search Menu works for your computer.

… i personally do have experience on all the public transport since i am working in KL…. i felt that it’s kind of convenient but at times, you would really need to suffer from the hectic schedule with those pack pack trains which were filled with all sort of people….

Outlook – Out of Office could not load

For the resolution as above, you might encounter the issue when the software .cab corrupts. It might be a root caused from the spywares that you have installed to your computer.

Anyway, here would be the solution for this:-

Resolution
1. Quit Outlook if it is running.

2. Press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, and then click Task Manager.

3. Click the Processes tab, and then verify that Outlook.exe does not appear in the list of processes.

4. Quit Task Manager.

5. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

6. Locate and then click the following registry key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Resiliency

7. Right-click the Resiliency subkey (if it exists), and then click Rename.

8. Type Resiliency.old, and then press ENTER.

9. Quit Registry Editor.

10. Start Outlook, and then click Out of Office Assistant on the Tools menu.

Voila… enjoy trying it….

First off, I had SecureRemote which is another VPN installed at the
time. So when the install of the Cisco was almost done, I got a blue
screen and CRASH.

When restarted, it said there was some new hardware which had to do
with SecureRemote freaking out due to the new vpn, I uninstalled
SecureRemote and disabled its “hardware” and tried to reinstall the
Cisco client.

Now every time I try to install it says that “Another version of this
product is already installed …” So it says that it will be removed
and the PC has to be restarted. Well I hit okay and restart the PC. On
restart, the install comes up and gives me the same damned message.

There is no trace of Cisco in Add/Remove programs. I have followed the
manual uninstall and removed all the oemX.inf files and still get the
same problem.

Solution
Okay so in case anyone has this probelm I finally resolved it.

I basically went throught the registry (highlight My Computer first)
and did a search for the word Cisco and removed every instance of it I
could find. There was the InstallService which it would not let me
remove but everything else is gone.

Then I removed all the more recently created oemX.int and oem.pnf files
Also removed /windows/system32/drives/dne200.ddl
And /windows/system32/dne
I also removed anything it had put into
Startmenu/programs/Alluser/startup
Also removed the stuff in the temp folder

So the combonation of all that is what really got it done.

Now its installed and happy. I hope that helps some poor soul save the
day I just wasted some day

What are the symthoms?

• A user profile does not unload.
• A roaming profile does not reconcile.
• You reach the registry size limit (RSL).
• You take a long time to log off, and you receive the following message:
Saving settings….
• Backups may not start. There are no errors in the Application log from the Backup program. However, if you see event ID 1524, the Backup has not run.

Do let me know if it makes a difference to your computer? It works for mine afterall…

How to you uninstall it… just go ahead from the Control Panel => Add Remove Programs…….

How do you know if it’s installed properly…… go to Start => Run => type in ‘services.msc’ => locate the User Profile Hive Cleanup and try to catch if the services is started, if yes… good… test it out… if no, right click and choose start…..
